Leads the Way: Run/Walk for Mental Health
A Sunday morning’s adrenaline rush was just the needed respite for the Leads Group of Companies as most employees and their friends, and family members rose early for the 5:30 AM call time at the Southwoods City in Binan, Laguna to take on the 3-kilometer run/walk challenge. This activity is an initiative of the Company’s Hope Squad, a group of employee volunteers from various company subsidiaries and departments led by Leads Agri’s Medical Team. All employees under the Leads Group of Companies, their friends, and family were invited to join.
All participants warmed up through a 20-minute Zumba session led by an instructor and enjoyed free flowing water and coffee throughout the run. After an exhilarating exercise, everyone enjoyed a hearty picnic together. The top fifteen finishers were given exercise equipment with the 1st place finisher receiving an additional cash prize. Most participants also won via the raffle draw conducted during the event with the grand prize winner bagging a brand-new Xiaomi smartwatch.
Helmed by Dra. Marie Angelique S. Malveda, the Medical Team sought to promote ways to reduce mental health strain among employees by providing an avenue to de-stress. Known as a common yet invisible struggle among professionals, mental health problems are usually difficult to detect unless consulted through and diagnosed by a professional, which makes a lot of people pay no heed to it. Undetected mental health problems could be a cause of depression, poor mental stability, and other myriad of mental issues that could cause long-term effects.
By establishing the Hope Squad and venturing on all its upcoming projects, Leads Agri’s Medical Team also hopes to initiate conversations about mental health and creating a community that does not shy away from discussing it. With more employees, their friends, and their family members participating and supporting this kind of initiative, they also take part in forming a workplace that actively improves the holistic well-being of the people in it.
